McClellan Park Raises Over $36,000 for Local Families

McClellan, CA – McClellan Business Park, LLC is excited to announce their McClellan CARE Holiday Food Basket Program has surpassed its goal of $35,000. McClellan Care has raised $36,340.28 to purchase groceries and gifts to help 360 local families in need.

The McClellan CARE Holiday Food Basket Program is an annual event which began in 2003. Since its inception McClellan Park has raised over $230,000 and provided food baskets to more than 2,000 local families living at or below poverty level. The children and families served attend five elementary schools within close proximity to McClellan Park.

In the last 10 years, McClellan Park has helped provide a brighter holiday for more than 1,730 local families who are living at or below poverty level. Last year, McClellan Park raised $32,000 and provided 308 Holiday Baskets to local families.

In 2013, 350 families received a holiday basket filled with all the ingredients for a holiday meal, a $50.00 grocery gift card, a board game along with additional staple items such as bread, peanut butter, soup, tuna, mac n cheese, oatmeal, hot chocolate, and granola bars.  These families all have children at one of five area schools – Gateway Community Charters, Bell Avenue, F.C. Joyce, Dry Creek, and Madison Elementary School.

“For most of these children, the only meal they receive is at school, so it was important to try to fill that gap again this year,” said Charity Committee Co-Chair, Magee Duke. “We hope the addition of the staples will help feed the children during the holiday break.”

McClellan Park made a donation, in lieu of holiday gifts, on behalf of its tenants and vendors to The Holiday Food Basket Program. “We’ve made the Holiday Baskets part of our year-round operation. Many of these families would not have a holiday meal without the support of more than 100 of our employees, tenants, and vendors,” McClellan Park president Larry Kelley said.
