Blue Diamond Growers Expands at McClellan Park

McClellan, CA – Blue Diamond Growers, the world’s largest tree nut processing and marketing company, has committed to a long term 80,000 square foot lease at McClellan Park.  With its headquarters located in downtown Sacramento, the new facility will be a cold storage facility for Blue Diamond Growers.  Blue Diamond Growers anticipates moving into the 80,000 square foot warehouse space in June 2010.

“As we searched for possible locations near our Sacramento plant, the McClellan Park location and its proximity to our main plant was a major reason behind our decision to enter into a long term lease of the warehouse space,” said Bruce Lish, Blue Diamond Growers general manager of industrial operations.  “The willingness of the McClellan group to retrofit this warehouse to provide the refrigeration capability was essential to our operational needs.  Thus far, we have been extremely pleased with the relationship that has developed between our companies and look forward to occupying the new location by early summer.”

“We’re planning extensive interior and exterior renovations to accommodate Blue Diamond Growers” said Ken Giannotti, McClellan Park’s senior vice president of leasing.  “We’re completely renovating the offices and restroom core, adding new truck dock doors, and most importantly, upgrading the building’s cooling system to meet Blue Diamond’s specifications.”

“New leases such as Blue Diamond reflect the continuing efforts of the county and McClellan Park to successfully transform the former Air Force base into an economic and jobs center for the region,” said Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson.

The rail-served industrial building, used as a supply house by the Air Force, was constructed to a very high standard with 8 inch thick concrete walls and a 4 inch thick concrete ceiling, providing better insulation and significant energy savings.

Located on Lang Ave, the new facility provides easy accessibility to I-80, where future roadway improvements are planned at the Main Ave entrance to McClellan Park.
