SACRAMENTO, Calif. (November 7, 2016) – With record high rail volume, Patriot Rail is pleased to announce construction completion of an additional 2,600 lineal ft of new rail at the McClellan Park intermodal rail yard. The additional track capacity within McClellan Business Park will increase by 40 percent. This will contribute to the growth of McClellan Park’s tenant base of warehouse and logistics companies.
Currently, Patriot Rail utilizes 6,500 cars per year, including crude, grain, and other food products. The added rail track will offer the rail logistics customer’s additional capacity to handle shipping needs, as well as cost savings. Also, less trucks on the freeways resulting in less pollution, and less congested roadways. Every one rail car will remove four trucks off of highways and roadways locally. Regionally, this additional rail capacity means substantial growth in the past 24 months, and is now essentially at capacity. The expanded rail is an important part of Patriot Rail’s future growth.
“Rail demand at McClellan has increased. We are pleased Patriot Rail has moved forward with this construction project to support the growing rail market.” Ken Giannotti, McClellan Business Park Senior Vice President stated.
An expected 95 guests are expected for the Golden Spike Ceremony highlighting the company’s expansion. Confirmed speakers include Dennis Marzec, Patriot Rail Chief Operation Officer, Ken Giannotti, McClellan Business Park Senior Vice President, and Wes Lujan, Director of Union Pacific Railroad.
“We’re eager for the increase in business development opportunities for companies, as well as local entrepreneurs, that don’t currently have additional capacity, but are looking to ship by rail.” Jeff Golian, Sacramento Valley Railroad Sales Manager stated.
Sacramento Valley Railroad (“SAV”), provides all railcar switching and other rail-related services on 7 miles of rail line within McClellan Business Park.
