McClellan Celebrates 70th Anniversary

McClellan Park and the County of Sacramento celebrated 70 years of history today. The Air Force Base began operating in early1939 and was officially dedicated on Apr 29, 1939.  To commemorate 70 years of history at McClellan broke ground on a new redevelopment project for the Park’s Peacekeeper Way entrance. The redevelopment improvements will include a steel superstructure spanning Peacekeeper Way, new monumentation, signage and landscape.

This Groundbreaking ceremony is dedicated to the tens of thousands of civilian and military employees who spent their entire professional careers throughout McClellan AFB’s 63 years of existence.

McClellan Park has begun planning for infrastructure improvements, aesthetic improvements and amenities to add more of a presence to the entrance of McClellan Park.  A unique mix of retail tenants and additional signage will flank the corner of Watt Ave and Peacekeeper Way, creating a more appealing and welcoming entrance.
